How much can the landlord increase the rent per year and why?
I started my lease from 1 August 2004 and in July 2006, the rent rose by 2.1% at $ 1,200 per month. I think it is because it replaces my old a / c with a new model (I'm sorry, that Toronto Hydro offered insentive one) So, this year the rent has increased by 2.6% and have made no improvements to my apartment.
Unless you live in an apartment with rent controlled (and you know, it would be in your lease), the landlord can increase your income as much as he or she wants, for any reason or no reason, provided that the lease for renewal.
