When I first read about the settlers of catan board game Mayfair's blog Penny Arcade, which seemed like a lot, so I figured Iâ € ™ d try it one day, and now I finally bought it (along with the cities and the Knights and Seafarerâ € ™ s expansion) and played with my friend.
Seems a bit simple at first (base grid 20 or more pieces play with wood) and the rules seem perplexed but once you master the game becomes a lot of fun.
Youâ € ™ ve a network of plots that everyone has different terrain. That field plays an action (ie, a forest that gives the wood, gives a field of grain, etc..) You place the discs numbered in each plot, representing the numbers on a roll 2D6 (2-12, except 7).
When that number goes up, any player with an agreement on the edge of the parcel which is the number you get out a resource (in the form of playing cards). You can then have the resources to build more settlements, cities and roads. You can also buy a card Development of the deck, which is tilted to one type of card unfortunately (the Knight), but some cards allow you to do things like buy something cheap, take over resources from other players, etc.
Thereâ € ™ s this concept when a thief thief sits on a plot of desert and, when 7 comes out, moves by the player who rolled a 7. The thief cleaned out anyone with more than 7 resource cards (which turned ditch the cover) and then the player has thrown things get 7 to take a letter from a player next to the place where now the thief. In addition, resources can not be removed from the plot that the thief is on. It creates an interesting dynamic in the game and throws a nice curve in the game.
The final destination is to get 10 victory points obtained by acceptance of settlements (1 VP), cities (2 VP), and any bonds from the deck of Development or for having the largest army (most cards knight 3 above) or the longest road adjacent on the map.
You are able to make the game a little better (in my opinion) getting the Catan: Cities & Expansion Knights – New !!!!! 4th edition expansion that develops the game a little more.
Although the wood pieces are a little retro, theyâ € ™ re still well done, the cards are not as strong and weak, and the game board is made of solid board that is very good in terms the contents of the box.
