As a fast player in women's hockey has little to do with how fast you can skate in a straight line. The reality is that when most of the girls hockey players of the same age and skill level to reach its maximum speed, which are all more or less the same speed. What separates the fastest players in the rest is how quickly they can get up to full speed, its ability to change direction and its ability to react to the club and their opponents.
The rate is to be fast in all that fast-moving direction and be with each decision you make. Being able to read and react instantly play is what separates best female hockey players from the rest. You can be the fastest skater with the quick shot, but if you can not react to the play quickly enough take advantage of their speed, they will not be able to get an edge over your competition.
The development of multi-directional speed and the ability to read and react off the ice all starts with a solid balance on one leg, the ability to control and generate electricity out of a leg and foot speed. The development of each one of these components of speed is critical, but the one-legged balance is the most fundamental. If girls do not have the ability to stay under the ice, lost its ability to generate energy, fight and win battles controls. His power and speed will always be limited unless you have a large base of single-leg balance. A Once the foundation is in place, the sky is the limit.
Once these three pillars of the speed is set, players can begin to develop multi-directional speed that will allow quick and explosive in every situation on the ice. The integration of these skills in exercises that challenge athletes from a physical and mental health is really the key.
My favorite workout of all time that deals with multi-directional speed and the ability to read and react a physical and mental level is called "ABCD/1234." And the reason why I like so much is because it's all about reaction time, quick feet and and change of direction.
That's how the drill works: Set five squares marked by cones that are 3 feet by 3 feet. It should not be 3 or 4 players assigned to each square. Have one player from each group are in the center of a square with all the players face the same direction. The cones are labeled in the sense of clockwise (from bottom left) as "A", "B", "C" and "D". The taper is also call, B is 2, C 3 and D 4. A coach, trainer or leader will call out a letter or number and all players who are among the places you must run to touch corresponding cone and return to the midst of the street as soon as possible so they can react to the next call from the leader. Players can perform drilling about 10-15 seconds, then players will be the next leap in.
When you first start using this drill with my athletes, usually complain that is too hard and getting confused. This just happens to be an exercise that requires players to think while on the move, which also happens to be what you have to do each turn on the ice.
The development of multi-directional speed and the ability to read and react instantly are the keys to becoming the best player female hockey possible. Once the girls hockey players develop the one-legged balance, the ability to generate and control of power and speed through the feet proper off-ice speed training, the bases will need to make your speed and performance to the next level.
