Cadillac brand in the process of transformation products

The radical transformation is an important part of the GMA € ™ s project to build Cadillac luxury in a truly global brand that can compete with the likes of Mercedes-Benz and BMW in terms of size and price. Apart from use-of-the-line of auto parts size of GM wheel and others, the automaker has set a concrete plan on how to improve further the quality of the Cadillac.

The redesigned CTS sedan as part of the new products will arrive this fall and will be presented as a model 2008. It will be followed in 2009 by a new CTS coupe and wagon. These two products are aimed more for the European market but also sell North America.

Basically, the new CTS is the precursor of Cadillac € ™ s â € € œnext-generation look that is subtle and less angular than the Art & Science theme pioneered by the original CTS. The CTS design inspiration is derived from the Cadillac Sixteen concept, which debuted last four years in the 2003 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

As part of the companyâ € ™ s go to the global image, Cadillac also plans continue its shift to rear-wheel drive. This movement includes the launch of two new rear-drive sedans high-end target mainly America North and a rear-drive sedan that could replace low-end compact BLS in Europe.

For 2012, Cadillac will also offer a range of vehicles in four different rear-drive platform from a new compact known as the Alpha architecture. An updated version of the Sigma platform highlights the â CTS € ™ 08, while the next-generation DTS luxury sedan and a new V12 flagship sedan known as the XLS will be built on the next platform Zeta. The replacement of the XLR roadster will share the new platform with next-generation C7 Corvette Chevrolet.

additional part of Cadillac € ™ s plans is to add a new midrange car known internally as the BRX crossover that is an off-the premium version of the drive four-wheel platform Theta. This new platform is also known by suppliers TE code name.

The Cadillac € ™ s plan would have some casualties as the SRX and STS will be replaced by new and updated models. The new Alpha platform is said to be the masterpiece of GM product czar Bob Lutz to be used as a basis for a wide range of rear-drive midsize models for several GM brands, including Holden, Cadillac, Opel, Saab, Pontiac, Opel and Chevrolet.

In accordance GM suppliers will use the Alpha Kappa architecture fragments that underlie both the Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky. It may be recalled that General Motors has made progress alpha in the showcar Holden Torana in Australia. The current design for the Alfa has a flexible platform that can accommodate both rear and all-wheel-drive and GMA € ™ s four-cylinder Ecotec family.

The top engine choice possibly be a double-cam 2.4-liter inline-4 with a supercharged engine available for performance-oriented models. Also be offered across the range is a six-speed manual and automatic transmission.

By some reliable sources within General Motors, Lutz would like to see Alpha platform used in place of front-wheel-drive Epsilon II platform in a series of products GM and including replacements scheduled for BLS Cadillac and Pontiac G6. Also, Chevrolet can also get a Alpha-based successor to Malibu sedan or a coupe companion named as the Chevelle. The range of Alfa models are expected to reach the market from 2010 to 2011.
