Can you advise on a finger on the trigger "operation?

I am to see a specialist visit and I was wondering if anyone has had this operation and what it implied.

Hey Jammer, it's trigger finger "I was intrigued and since has not been answered yet, I thought I would be in it. Hoped it would not be trigger-happy-lol! With all the cattle stations around! In severe cases that do not respond to injections and finger or thumb is kept in a locked position, surgery may be needed to relieve symptoms. A local anesthetic is used for the surgical procedure is performed in an outpatient basis. An incision is made by a surgeon in the palm of the hand at the base of the affected finger or thumb to relieve the constriction of the tendon. Recovery can take up to four weeks. Sometimes physical therapy after hand surgery is necessary to regain good use.
