When buying a barrel of oil in the stock market, where does the physical oil go?

I mean what they send you a barrel oil to your address?

Well, first they do not buy oil on the stock exchange. You purchase along with other commodities in a commodity exchange blocks, such as the Chicago Board of Trade. Then do not buy a barrel of oil, but what is known as a contract. I think with the oil that is 5 or 10,000 barrels per contract. Third, do not buy today, but for some time in the future, usually 3 to 6 months. That is why futures are called. investors have the future before the date of actual notice, but if you wanted to keep the future of the call, you should designate a storage terminal and organize transfer from the oil field. This is actually a simplification of the process. There are a lot of additional variables. Like type of crude oil (North Sea Brent, West Texas Sweet, etc.). Most investors are buying on margin. That is, they are asking for money to trade, while only placing a relatively small amount of cash. It is very risky. 80% of those who invest in commodities lose their @ ss. For example say you purchases a contract of 5000 a barrel of West Texas and contributed U.S. $ 10,000. Every time the price goes up $ 1 you earn $ 5000. Whenever the price falls $ 1 to lose $ 5000. If the price falls more than $ 2 you will receive a margin call from your broker. Please come with the extra money to cover the loss to lose the contract and its 10,000 dollars has gone. It is an investment where you can lose more money than originally invested.
