Tulsa wound area of Iraq Veterans Awarded Craftmatic Bed ® to help combat insomnia related

Sapulpa, OK â € "June 26, 2008 â €" A 2007 survey of severely wounded troops from the war on terrorism found that 92% have problems sleeping because of nightmares, insomnia and pain. To combat this problem is looming between the military, Craftmatic ® Adjustable Beds has launched its Program CraftmaticCARES to donate to a regular bed, free of charge to a severely wounded in the War on Terror veteran each week in 2008. SSG Shawn Green, U.S. Army (Retired) of Sapulpa is this ™ € Weeka s winner.

Green first joined the Army in January 1983 and served with pride for 25 years until his medical retirement in 2007. He served two tours in Iraq with the 104th Training Division outside the state of Washington, his first in 2003 and the second in 2007. Green served honorably by General Petraeus with the Multinational Transition Team.

â € œWe were responsible for the formation of the Iraqi people and the Iraqi army to take over the country for themselves, â € Green recalled. â € œWe were under constant enemy watch whenever we roll out the door I knew it was watching our every move. We had to be on our toes feet safely. Thank God we had helicopter cover.â €

Â

Although his unit was on the watch during his first tour Green went out of a Humvee in a mortar attack and severely damaged his neck, back and left shoulder.

Â

But when his injuries ™ € weren t treated properly in 2004, Green was deployed again in 2007 and was there only a month before his old injuries backfired he.

Â

â € œOne on my left side went numb and I finally wound closed down after 25 years service, â € Green said.

Â

He was flown back to U.S. in July 2007 for physical therapy and neck surgery, back and at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, TX.

This week, Green learned that he would be receiving the Craftmatic bed for his service to the military and its combat-related injuries.

â € œRight now only have a queen-sized bed with a mattress standard, â € Green said. â € œSometimes sleep, sometimes I donâ € ™ t. If my lower back isnâ ™ € t get the right support, I wake up in pain and can not ™ € back to sleep. I guess average between four and five hours of sleep night.â €
